Strategic Initiative Management
Guide complex, university-wide projects and strategic initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage a portfolio of institutional projects aligned with University priorities and desired outcomes.
Develop and maintain project charters, implementation plans, timelines, milestones, performance measures, communication plans, and resource plans.
Monitor progress, adjust project approaches as needs change, and maintain clear documentation and risk awareness.
Identify barriers, recommend solutions, coordinate activities, and track deliverables to support successful implementation.
Project Governance and Portfolio Management
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project governance and portfolio management practices that advance institutional priorities.
Establish and maintain project management standards, tools, processes, and reporting practices.
Maintain a centralized project portfolio and coordinate intake, prioritization, scheduling, and resource planning.
Maintain documentation and records to support project planning, execution, compliance, and reporting.
Provide project sponsors and initiative owners with guidance, tools, best practices, and implementation support.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, executive reports, and project status updates.
Monitor project performance, milestones, risks, resources, dependencies, deliverables, and outcomes.
Prepare recurring progress reports and presentations for executive leadership and project stakeholders.
Analyze project data to identify trends, implementation challenges, opportunities, and areas requiring intervention.
Support accountability through project reviews, status meetings, and performance monitoring.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners to support project execution.
Serve as a trusted partner to project sponsors and stakeholders by providing strategic and tactical project management support.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders to support alignment, accountability, and timely decisions.
Facilitate meetings, workshops, reviews, and other engagements that support planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
Document decisions, action items, risks, and dependencies, ensure follow-up, and support change management activities.
Leadership, Governance, and Accountability
Establish appropriate structure, processes, and accountability mechanisms to support successful project outcomes.
Promote collaboration, continuous improvement, and results-oriented execution across strategic initiatives.
Ensure project governance standards and reporting requirements are consistently applied.
Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and implementation challenges.
Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations that support informed decision-making and strategic execution.
Process Improvement and Organizational Effectiveness
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce duplication, and strengthen institutional processes.
Assist departments in documenting workflows, clarifying responsibilities, and improving project execution practices.
Analyze implementation challenges and recommend practical solutions that improve project outcomes.
Promote continuous improvement, accountability, and results-oriented execution across institutional initiatives.
Identify project risks and facilitate mitigation strategies to support successful delivery.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Project Management, or a related field.
Nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience managing complex projects, programs, organizational initiatives, strategic priorities, or related work requiring project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and implementation oversight.
Experience leading projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and cross-functional teams.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of project management, strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement principles and practices.
Ability to lead complex projects, manage competing priorities, and drive results in dynamic environments.
Ability to influence, facilitate, build partnerships, and lead cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging executive leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
Experience developing project plans, timelines, budgets, documentation, reports, and performance dashboards.
Proficiency with project management, reporting, collaboration, and productivity tools.
Required Certification: Employees hired without a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Lean Six Sigma, or other approved project management certification must obtain an approved certification within twenty-four (24) months of hire.

Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Lean Six Sigma, or other related project management certification.
Experience supporting institutional transformation, strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, or continuous improvement.
Experience working in higher education or another large, complex organization.
Experience using project or portfolio management platforms.
Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, Lean, Six Sigma, or hybrid project management approaches.
Experience developing executive-level dashboards, reports, presentations, or updates.
Experience facilitating cross-functional projects and coaching or guiding project.
