Role Description

As a Senior Data Operations Engineer at Anvilogic, you are responsible for the health, performance, and cost of the Snowflake accounts that Anvilogic runs on behalf of our customers. You will onboard new customers, monitor and optimize their environments, and serve as the expert escalation point when our Customer Success and Sales Engineering teams need deep data platform support. You will also advise customers who run their own Snowflake and Databricks environments.

These production environments support some of the most advanced security teams in the industry, so reliability and cost efficiency are core to everything you do.

• Role Responsibilities
• Onboard customers end to end, including account and warehouse setup, roles and permissions, data source ingestion, and Anvilogic application installation
• Monitor the health and cost of Anvilogic-managed Snowflake accounts and address issues before they impact customers
• Optimize queries, data formats, and task plans for reliability, performance, and cost
• Identify and eliminate waste, such as unused tasks, oversized warehouses, and inefficient queries
• Produce cost reporting and optimization recommendations for internal teams and customers
• Serve as the escalation point for Customer Success and Sales Engineering on complex Snowflake and Databricks issues
• Advise customers operating their own Snowflake and Databricks environments
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
• Automate operational work using Python and Terraform
• Spread knowledge of data operations and cost best practices throughout Anvilogic through documentation and brown bag sessions

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data operations, data engineering, or database administration
• 2+ years of experience running Snowflake at scale in production
• Advanced SQL skills and demonstrated experience with query performance optimization
• Experience managing and optimizing Snowflake cost, including warehouse sizing, resource monitors, and credit usage
• Working familiarity with Python and Terraform
• Experience with on-call rotations and production incident response
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating Databricks environments
• Familiarity with security data (e.g., endpoint and network logs)
• Experience with observability technologies like Grafana and Sentry
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience advising customers or internal teams on data platform best practices
