Assistant Human Resource Manager at Hy-Vee | LAYIQ

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect: Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them throughout the store
Assist with inputting, updating, and deleting employee information in the Workday time and attendance system
Support counseling with department heads and employees on performance reviews, personal issues, scheduling, benefits, and wages; assist as Insurance Coordinator and 401(k) Coordinator
Assist with recruiting and retention programs and coordinate employee transfers between stores
Support the hiring process including interviewing and placement of specified positions and assist with conducting orientations and training new employees
Track vacations and personal days; assist with scheduling, honor time-off requests, and arrange coverage for call-ins
Assist with making payroll adjustments including bonuses and missed pay raises and transmit sales, hours, adjustments, and accounts receivable to the corporate office weekly
Help disperse paychecks, W-2s, and Trust Fund and 401(k) reports; distribute company and store communications including birthdays and anniversaries
Assist in preparing employee wage and employment verifications, disability claims, and leave of absence requests
Assist in recording and following up on Workers Compensation claims and complete accident reports for customers and employees
Assist with conducting exit interviews and share results with store leadership
Attend weekly staff meetings and assistant manager meetings; participate in employee evaluations
Coordinate and conduct quarterly employee meetings, store events, and service award programs
Assist with handling customer complaints and sending follow-up and thank-you correspondence
Handle confidential employee records and sensitive information with strict discretion
Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
You'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Human Resource Manager
Your Skills
To be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to: Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally with employees and leadership
Interview, counsel, and advise employees and managers with care and discretion
Solve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
Handle confidential employee records and information with strict discretion
High school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework required; Hy-Vee experience preferred

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Human Resource Manager
Education and Experience
High school diploma plus 2 to 3 years of HR and accounting coursework required
Hy-Vee experience preferred

Physical activity is incidental to the core duties of the role
Occasionally walk the floor or facility to observe operations, staff, or product
Where applicable to the role: ability to occasionally handle product for demonstration purposes
No regular lifting, carrying, or physical exertion required
