The Senior Project Manager manages all aspects of a project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget. The Senior Project Manager work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. This role will support initiatives in the insurance segment, primarily focused in Medicaid state implementations but with the opportunity to support other initiatives in the segment.

The Senior Project Manager designs, communicates, and implements strategic initiatives that support enterprise objectives. The role oversees program and project execution, monitoring progress and performance, and proactively resolving operational challenges to minimize delays and ensure successful outcomes. Responsibilities include identifying, acquiring, and managing resources—such as internal staff, materials, and external vendors—required for project delivery.

Key duties involve preparing project documentation, including requirements, schedules, budgets, and forecasts. The Senior Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the organization to secure necessary contributions and drive project & program alignment. Regular status meetings and reports are conducted to ensure transparency, track milestones, and address risks or issues as they arise.

This role sets priorities, delegates tasks, manages risks and coordinates project teams to meet defined targets and deliverables. The Senior Project Manager plays an influential role in shaping department strategy and driving continuous improvement across programs and initiatives. Work is performed independently, exercising significant judgment and discretion in determining approaches and resource allocation.

• Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Management

Experience using Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or other project management tools to develop and manage project timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant Certifications: PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, SAFe, or comparable project management certification, Prosci Change Management certification
• Experience working with business and technology teams in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Experience using PowerBI or other reporting tools to support project reporting, operational monitoring, and business insights.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Medicaid business processes in a regulated environment and Medicaid state implementations
• Extensive Project Management Experience: Demonstrated success managing multiple, complex projects or programs, preferably in an enterprise environment.
• Leadership and Influence: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without authority, and foster collaboration among stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to align project objectives to broader organizational goals and drive enterprise-level initiatives.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate project vision, status, and outcomes to diverse audiences.
• Risk Management: Advanced skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project and program risks, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and commitment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$86,300 - $118,700 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
