SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance supports the company and senior leadership team in managing the accounting and financial operations of Billings Flying Service. This role is key to ensuring accurate reporting, sound controls, and practical support to a fast-moving aviation business. The Vice President of Finance will maintain a high standard of financial stewardship while contributing to a culture defined by our core values: Value People and Strengthen the Team, Hunt for Opportunities, Be Gritty & Practical.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements
Lead the month-end close process, ensuring completeness, accuracy and on-time delivery
General ledger – review and approve journal entries
Accounts payable – review and approve vendor costs, ensuring proper coding and timely payments
Inventory – oversee inventory reporting ensuring accuracy of accounting, ensuring reconciliations and physical counts are performed
Fixed assets – review fixed asset tracking and ensure accurate capitalization according to policy
Develop the annual budget and monitor monthly budget v actual reports with variance insights
Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure ongoing SOX compliance
Manage and supervise accounting staff
Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong familiarity with financial statements and budget preparation
Ability to handle multiple projects within required deadlines

Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Working knowledge of accounting software
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Accounting degree required, CPA preferred; will consider combination of equivalent work experience and education.
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting exposure preferred
Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
