If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.
Role Purpose
You will lead how LA28 plans and delivers the road-based endurance events at the heart of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games: the Marathon, Road Cycling, and Triathlon. As Director, Road Sports, you own end-to-end planning, operational readiness, and delivery across complex courses that run through the streets of Los Angeles.
In the years leading up to the Games, you will establish the plans, agreements, and agency relationships that make these events possible, shaping how road sport is delivered while keeping athletes, spectators, and communities at the center.
· Real ownership of the road-events program that helps deliver the Games.
· Career-defining leadership across public agencies, venues, and citywide delivery partners.
· Visible impact on events watched by millions across Los Angeles and the world.
· A high-trust team that values judgment, pragmatism, and enabling others.
Road events are where the Games meet the city: free to watch, open to all, and seen around the world. Your leadership keeps these events safe, well-run, and ready, connecting the Olympic and Paralympic Games to the streets and communities of Los Angeles.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
· Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
· The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
· The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
· Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
· Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
