Under general supervision, the stock clerk performs clerical and physical tasks involved in the receiving, storing, and issuing of equipment, materials, supplies, merchandise, or tools. The stock clerk also follows established guidelines and processes to maintain inventory records of items in work site stockroom or warehouse.
1. *Verifies inbound shipments against packing slips to ensure accuracy of items being delivered and issues parts to fulfill service order requests.
2. *Uses inventory software to process receipt and movement of materials through the system.
3. *Sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoice, examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
4. *Stores articles in bins, on floor or on shelves, according to identifying information, such as style, size or type of material to maintain organization and efficiency.
5. *Fills orders or issues supplies from stock, prepares periodic, special or perpetual inventory of stock, and requisitions articles to fill incoming orders.
6. *Fills pick tickets from inventory for pending service order requirements and enters changes in system.
7. *Loads and unloads freight from trucks, storage containers or vehicles, and sorts and stacks materials to be palletized for movement.
8. *Inspects materials and products for proper and secure packaging, and maintains integrity and condition in bin locations. Restacks products or removes excess packaging material as needed.
9. *Compiles reports on use of stock handling equipment, location changes, and refusal of shipments.
10. *Often performs tasks common to the “material handler” job description.
11. May distribute stock among production workers, keeping records of material issued.
12. Processes real-time systematic transactions for moving materials using RF scan guns.
13. On occasion, work requires local travel to other facilities.
14. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
