In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. As a result-driven Business Development Manager with extensive market and industry knowledge, you will play a pivotal role in driving our growth strategy forward.
Reporting to the WAEMU Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for building and cultivating relationships, establishing partnerships, and executing contracts based on the needs of the Product and Operation teams to ensure the continued scaling of Wave’s business in Mali.
In this role, you'll; Forming, negotiating services and managing strategic partnerships (with banks, telcos, bill payment companies, international remittance companies, etc.) that are key for Wave's business to operate.
Building relationships to enable Wave to grow and operate effectively in Mali.
Sourcing business partnerships for Wave's payment products.
Identifying and liaising with the right person at partners to achieve Wave's needs.
Supervising communication between partners and Wave teams (Product, Finance, Legal, compliance, Risk, Marketing…)
Key details
Location: You'll work from our office in Bamako and may travel to field locations within Mali
Work authorization in Mali.
