Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- 5+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant role, with experience in client service preferred
- Candidates who hold a California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substances Permit (VACSP) preferred
- Fear Free Certification or willingness to become certified
- Proficiency in the following skills: Strong knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks throughout the day
- Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats
- Knowledge of common veterinary medications and basic drug calculations
- Excellent communication skills with DVMs, clients, CSRs, and the clinical team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Ability to coordinate follow-up, track outstanding tasks, and ensure appropriate completion or handoff
- Comfortable providing client education, discussing treatment plans and discharge instructions, and demonstrating home care
- Ability to provide hands-on Veterinary Assistant support with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures when needed
