Perform professional level scientific research functions for a physical science discipline, dealing with non-living materials, including physics, chemistry, earth science, geology, space science, astronomy, materials science, etc.
The Division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a part-time 50% FTE, Physics Science Research Professional (PSRP) 1 to apply knowledge and perform activities in research studies for the lab of Dr. Xianjin Dai. The PSRP will develop and test advanced AI models for medical image segmentation, radiation therapy treatment planning, and plan evaluation. The PSRP will work under the direction and supervision of their faculty. The initial term will be one year.
We are seeking highly motivated researchers to develop cutting-edge AI methods and translate them into impactful applications in medical imaging and healthcare.
Applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
Competitive candidates will have a strong publication record, excellent programming skills, and demonstrated experience developing innovative AI/ML methods.
Researchers interested in advancing next-generation AI for medical imaging and clinical applications are especially encouraged to apply.
Other duties will include:
May be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise>80dB TWA, chemicals, asbestos and heavy metals. May work in confined spaces; work at heights and temperature extremes.
May work extended or unusual work hours based on research and project requirements.
