Applying a comprehensive understanding for the theories and methods of a life science discipline, perform work directly involved in research projects, interpreting results and participation in experimental design.
A laboratory in the Genetics Department at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a talented and energetic Life Science Research Professional 1 to investigate cell-cell interactions in the outer retina in the context of mitochondrial dysfunction through the generation and study of mouse models, with the aim of elucidating mechanisms relevant to photoreceptor degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa.
The employee will independently conduct and analyze experiments to support ongoing projects in the lab and do independent projects as abilities and time allow. The employee will troubleshoot and adapt methods as necessary to achieve project goals. The position includes work with live mice. The successful applicant will become a member of a research team and must interact productively with other team members and those in nearby labs.
The employee will facilitate the daily operation of the lab and help assure lab compliance with government and University guidelines regarding health and safety. This is an NIH-funded position in a collaborative, intellectually exciting and multidisciplinary environment known for research excellence. Candidates experienced with mice and molecular and cellular biology are particularly desirable.
