Ultrasound Technologist I: Irvine Ultrasound

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Ultrasound Technologist I demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols. All technologists utilize independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high quality diagnostic ultrasound images. The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained and prior to submitting to interpreting radiologist.

They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required. They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems. Hospital based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience
• Associates degree or higher.
• Graduate of an ARDMS approved ultrasound program.
• Minimum one year of experience is preferred but will consider new grads.
• Hospital/OP Imaging locations only: Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met. Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
• Certifications Required
• BLS
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties
• Non-Invasive Vascular Lab: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography ARDMS - RVT registered, or registry eligible, to be completed within the first year of employment.
• Certifications Preferred
• Advanced credential in vascular imaging (RVT)
