SteerBridge is seeking a Product Designer to join our Experience Design team supporting MDC and the continued development of AICES, the Artificial Intelligence Claims Evaluation System.
AICES supports complex disability claims and medical evaluation workflows. The platform helps claims reviewers, medical providers, and administrators organize information, review supporting evidence, evaluate system-generated findings, and complete review actions with clarity and accountability.
In this role, you will create high-fidelity UI prototypes in Figma, help maintain and extend our design system, and translate research findings, claims review workflows, and technical requirements into clear, production-ready experiences that support informed human review.
You will collaborate closely with a senior product designer who provides day-to-day direction, design critique, and mentorship. You will also work with UX researchers, engineers, product stakeholders, and subject-matter experts in claims and medical evaluation.
This opportunity is well suited for a designer with strong UI skills, an understanding of design systems, and an interest in making complex information easier to navigate. As you grow in the role, you will take greater ownership of product workflows and features.
Claims intake and information organization.
Evidence review, source traceability, and multi-tab evidence viewing.
Medical evaluation and Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) workflows.
Review of system-generated findings and supporting information.
Case status, exceptions, permissions, and administrative workflows.
Your designs will help users understand where information comes from, what the system has identified, and when review or correction is needed. Interfaces must make uncertainty, exceptions, and human review actions clear.
Designs accurately reflect validated user workflows, permissions, and claims review requirements.
Users can easily find, assess, and act on claims information and supporting evidence.
Figma prototypes and handoff documentation allow engineers to implement features with minimal ambiguity.
New features consistently use and strengthen the AICES design system.
Design QA identifies implementation issues before they affect users.
Design decisions reflect user research, accessibility requirements, technical constraints, and claims and medical evaluation expertise.
You communicate effectively across teams and grow toward ownership of increasingly complex workflows and features.
You will work alongside designers, researchers, developers, test engineers, product stakeholders, and claims and medical evaluation experts to create clear, accessible, and trustworthy product experiences. Your work will help users understand complex evidence, resolve exceptions, and make informed decisions that affect Veterans and their claims.
