Advanced Practice Provider opportunity in Anesthesiology/Non-OR. The ideal candidate will be an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) with at least three years of experience, including one year of inpatient experience. Candidates with surgical, cardiology, pulmonology, preoperative anesthesia, or internal medicine experience are preferred. The candidate must be able to work autonomously and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills.
Monday - Friday 9:30am-6:00pm no weekends or holidays (must be flexible in covering 7am-3:30pm shift during other APPs absence)
Compensation
minimum $117,500 - midpoint $146,500 - maximum $176,500

Inpatient Activities
To assess and screen all patients for past medical, surgical and anesthetic history prior to arrival for the planned procedure requiring anesthesia services.
Consults with primary team, surgical team, and staff Anesthesiologists to ensure patient optimization prior to surgical procedure
Orders and reviews labs and other ancillary tests prior to surgery whether emergent or scheduled.
Outpatient Activities
To assess and screen all patients for past medical, surgical and anesthetic history prior to arrival for the planned procedure requiring anesthesia services.
Secure Nurse Practitioner certification by achieving the required number of CME hours as stipulated by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Attend available continuing medical educational opportunities and departmental conferences as scheduled.
Other duties assigned
Required: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.
Required: Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Required: None.
Preferred: At least three years of Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) experience including one year of inpatient experience; surgical, cardiology, pulmonology, preoperative anesthesia, or internal medicine experience are preferred.

MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas. Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as required by patient care area upon hire.
Clinical Privileges Must obtain and maintain relevant clinical privileges. Continued employment in this position at MD Anderson is contingent upon maintaining these privileges.
