The Department of Cancer Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is hiring a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow under Dr. Eyal Gottlieb. The Gottlieb laboratory is seeking an outstanding and motivated postdoctoral candidate to expand our work on metabolic diseases. Our research is focused on the cross talk between metabolism and tumorigenesis outlining metabolic reprogramming in cancer.
We combine metabolomics and genetic approaches to identify pathways essential for disease progression with the aim of developing a new treatment strategy.
The candidate will train in cancer research using interdisciplinary research methods combining molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and analytical chemistry (metabolomics), to study metabolic roles in diseases and to explore new potential clinical approaches in different metabolic disorders and cancer.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The fellow will conduct lab-based research focused on cancer metabolism in general and liver metabolic functions.
The fellow will participate in departmental academic activities and will present at research meetings locally, nationally, and internationally.
The fellow is expected to submit research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and to assist with future grant applications.
The appointee works under the supervision of a senior scholar or a department in a university or similar research institution (e.g., national laboratory, National Institutes of Health (NIH), etc.)
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
