Job Description
General Motors is seeking an Senior Engineer to own software integration and system-level verification for the MCU1 platform on the CCU AV Extension Board.
This role will integrate MCU1 software with the CCU compute platform, Thor SoCs, Functional Safety Island, IVI, MCU3, IMU, networking, diagnostics, and vehicle-facing services. The engineer will convert requirements and interface specifications into repeatable bench, hardware-in-the-loop, and system test evidence that supports platform releases and vehicle milestones.
The role sits at the intersection of MCU software, platform integration, embedded systems, safety, diagnostics, automation, and release engineering. The successful candidate will identify integration defects early, drive issues to closure with development and hardware partners, and provide clear pass/fail or dependency-blocked evidence for release readiness.
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
5+ years of professional experience in embedded software integration, system verification, hardware-software integration, or automotive test engineering.
Hands-on experience testing embedded systems that include microcontrollers, SoCs, sensors, networking, diagnostics, or safety-related functions.
Ability to read and interpret software requirements, interface control documents, hardware-software interface specifications, architecture descriptions, and test results.
Experience developing structured test cases and analyzing failures using logs, traces, diagnostic data, and bench instrumentation.
Programming or scripting experience in Python or a comparable language.
Experience with version control, issue tracking, continuous integration, and software build or release processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across software, hardware, systems, safety, and program teams.
Ability to work on-site with lab and vehicle-integration equipment and participate in hands-on bench bring-up, test execution, and issue triage.
We believe we all must make a choice every day – individually and collectively – to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture. Every day, we want every employee to feel they belong to one General Motors team.
