Senior Data Architect - School of Medicine
The Senior Data Architect develops, maintains, and oversees the data infrastructure, semantic models, data-quality processes, role-based security, and AI-ready data products that support the School of Medicine’s evaluation, reporting, accreditation monitoring, and continuous quality improvement functions.
This position works closely with analytics, evaluation, curriculum, assessment, student progress, IT, and institutional partners to ensure that mission, strategic plan, accreditation, course evaluation, survey, and aggregate student performance evidence can be accessed, secured, refreshed, validated, and used reliably. This position crafts long-term technical strategies, emphasizing strategic development and alignment with School of Medicine and University objectives.
This position works in close collaboration with the School of Medicine Office of Technology and the BYU Office of Information Technology.
This position is important to the success of the BYU School of Medicine, a newly established organization within the university. As the school continues to launch and grow, a successful candidate must demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to take on evolving responsibilities and assignments to support its effective implementation and ongoing operations.

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business intelligence, data analytics, data science, or related field with 5 years of IT architecture experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience with data architecture, data modeling, data integration, automation, data-quality checks, or related analytics engineering work.
Experience documenting data sources, metric definitions, calculation logic, validation steps, and reporting assumptions.
Experience working with sensitive or confidential data and applying appropriate standards for access, use, reporting, and security.
Strong working knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, data integration, data transformation, data quality, cloud data platforms, database management, and business intelligence principles.
Ability to build trusted, reusable, and well-documented data products that support dashboards, reports, and decision-making.
Proficiency with BI/reporting tools and ability to develop dashboards, semantic models, measures, data-quality checks, and refresh processes.
Ability to interpret stakeholder needs and translate them into technical requirements, reporting structures, and data products.
Ability to document data lineage, metric definitions, calculation logic, assumptions, validation steps, and reporting limitations.
Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving data-quality, refresh, transformation, calculation, or reporting issues.
Ability to work collaboratively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Sound judgment and discretion when working with sensitive student, faculty, assessment, evaluation, accreditation, and institutional data, including the application of information security, identity and access management, data privacy, and governance standards.

Typical Starting Pay: $104,500-$135,500
The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
