The Detroit Lions are seeking an energetic, talented, and motivated individual to serve as Roary, the team’s mascot, in a part-time backup role. This position will work closely with the Head of Mascot Programming and will also support Roary as a handler during appearances and events as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend appearances as Roary at community events, promotional engagements, and Detroit Lions events, including evenings, weekdays, and holidays as needed
- Maintain the integrity and consistency of the Roary character by adhering to established mannerisms, body language, personality traits, and fan interaction standards
- Serve as Roary’s handler at select appearances, assisting with event logistics, crowd engagement, safety, and overall mascot support as needed
Assist with crowd management and maintaining a safe, positive environment for fan and staff, including proactively identify and de-escalating potential conflicts and following all established security protocols and event procedures
Ensure the mascot costume is properly maintained, cleaned, and presented in accordance with organizational appearance and care standards
