Role Overview
ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Developer Portal team, where we're building the self-service platform that enables organizations to rapidly integrate ID.me.
Identity proofing is fundamentally complex. Integrating an identity proofing flow requires many steps while meeting standards-body assurance requirements. The Developer Portal is the product that brings those pieces together for the external developer.
Today, much of that onboarding is still performed manually by in-house Solutions Consultants who have many other responsibilities. Our mission is to enable customers and their developers to register their application, configure their identity needs, test in a production-like sandbox, and launch to production, all through a modern self-service experience.
This is an early-career role for engineers who are 0 to 2 years into their career and write excellent code. You don't need years of industry experience. You need strong fundamentals, a track record of building real things, and an AI-native way of working: you already use AI coding tools as a core part of how you design, build, test, and debug, and you have the judgment to know when their output is right and when it isn't.
This is a backend-leaning full-stack role
. You'll work on the services, APIs, and data models behind the portal (application registration, authorization, and the developer-facing APIs our customers integrate against), and you'll ship the user-facing surfaces those services power in our Next.js and React frontend. You'll start with well-scoped features alongside senior engineers and grow quickly into owning features end-to-end, from API contract to production.
, and
TypeScript
. You don't need to know all of these on day one. If your fundamentals are strong, we're confident you'll pick up whatever the problem requires.
Your dev environment is set up, you've shipped your first production change, and you understand how the Developer Portal fits into ID.me's identity platform.
You're independently delivering well-scoped features across backend and frontend, contributing meaningfully to code reviews, and using AI tooling to raise both your speed and your quality bar.
You own a meaningful Developer Portal capability end-to-end, from API contract and data model through production operation, and you're a go-to person for at least one part of the system.
You're Encouraged to Apply
We're not looking for someone who checks every box. If you write great code, learn fast, and are excited about building the tools that let developers integrate trusted identity, we want to hear from you, even if your background doesn't match this description exactly.
The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.
