Dean of UATX Law and Holder of the Gail Jaquish & Steven Kenninger Endowed Chair in Law

UATX seeks a dean to build America’s boldest legal program.

Not another pre-law program or law school. A new way to study law.

The country needs more citizens, leaders, and lawyers who spend their careers defending the Constitution. This role designs the curriculum, builds the program, finds the students, teaches them, and launches them into practice. You will recruit the faculty, manage the budget, fundraise, and run the program. You will hold the program to the highest academic standards.

You must be a:

Constitutionalist.

Builder.

Strategist.

Communicator.

Fundraiser.

Mission alignment with UATX and a commitment to admitting students based on objective measures of their merit alone are required.

We encourage sitting and former judges and practicing lawyers to apply, as well as those in academia.

To apply, submit three things:

A CV.

A letter of intent answering one question: What would you build, and how would it differ from the law schools that exist?

One piece of your writing you want the committee to read (e.g., an opinion piece, a brief, an article, a speech).

Submit on Lever, or send directly and confidentially to the co-chairs, Adam Biggs (abiggs@uaustin.org) and Claire Brickman (cbrickman@uaustin.org). Only the search committee sees applications until a candidate advances.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

This will not run like your average job search. It will move fast. Applications will be reviewed beginning October 20. Apply early.
