We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator with strong expertise in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and commercial interior construction. This position will take ownership of the estimating process from initial bid invitation through final proposal and project handoff.
The ideal candidate understands commercial interior construction in detail and can independently manage takeoffs, scope reviews, subcontractor and vendor pricing, bid leveling, cost analysis, and proposal preparation. This is a hands-on estimating role for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior construction scopes.
Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, contracts, and bid documents to determine complete project scope.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.
Analyze plans and specifications to identify scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, and potential cost risks.
Solicit, review, compare, and level vendor and subcontractor proposals.
Develop accurate material, labor, subcontractor, and project cost pricing.
Prepare complete bid proposals with detailed scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and pricing.
Identify value-engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives when appropriate.
Coordinate with Project Managers, field leadership, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
Experience soliciting, analyzing, and leveling subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating/takeoff software.
Strong understanding of labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs.
Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
High school diploma or GED required.
Degree or formal education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
