Campus Conversations Project Coordinator

The Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership seeks a Campus Conversations Project Coordinator to educate students about engaging in respectful, meaningful conversations that dignify individuals, even while discussing challenging current topics. This position will facilitate the day-to-day operations of a campus-wide dialogue program designed to promote empathy, mutual understanding, and constructive engagement across differences.
Note: This is a part-time position (17.5) hours per week.
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
Bachelor’s degree related to public health, public administration, communication, education, social sciences, student affairs, or a related field.
Experience in project coordination, event planning, student programming, higher education, community engagement, facilitation, training, or a related area
Commitment to promoting respectful dialogue, mutual understanding, belonging, dignity, and constructive engagement across differences.
Ability to facilitate and model respectful, balanced, and appropriately neutral conversations about difficult and/or sensitive current topics.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and provide feedback to student employees.
Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate multiple events and projects simultaneously.
Preferred
Master’s degree related to public health, public administration, communication, education, social sciences, student affairs, or a related field.
3+ years of relevant experience
Experience facilitating structured dialogue, deliberative discussion, conflict resolution, mediation, or conversations involving controversial topics.
Experience recruiting, training, supervising, or mentoring college students.
Knowledge of reflective structured dialogue, deliberative dialogue, conflict resolution, mediation, or related approaches.
Knowledge of public health, health communication, polarization, civil discourse, social issues, or related areas.
This position is part-time and non-benefited. Available employee resources and perks include:
Pay Grade: 52
The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
