Apex Companies is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our team in Midlothian, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career environmental professional looking to build hands-on field experience while learning from an experienced team.
This position will support a variety of environmental projects throughout Virginia, with a strong focus on Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental sampling, reporting, and other environmental services. The role is expected to be 50% or more field-based, with up to 50% travel depending on project needs. Some weeks may involve field work every day. This would include travel to locations out of town.
Your Responsibilities
Conduct environmental field work and collect soil, water, air, and/or building material samples.
Support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
Assist with asbestos surveys and monitoring and industrial hygiene-related work.
Provide support for natural resource projects, including wetlands and threatened and endangered species surveys.
Assist with erosion and sediment control activities as needed.
Utilize GIS for environmental and natural resource projects.
Gather, analyze, and interpret environmental data.
Assist with report preparation, including inputting and organizing data within report templates.
Assist with editing and preparing environmental reports.
Respond to environmental emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
Travel to project sites throughout Virginia, including occasional overnight travel and extended day trips.
Follow all company and project-specific health and safety procedures.
Actively develop your technical skills and career through hands-on project experience and mentorship.
