Role Summary
Urban Outfitters is seeking a UX/UI Designer that will bring the Digital Experience roadmap to life through thoughtful, test-ready design across web and app, from core shopping journeys to content and brand experiences. This role combines user-centered thinking, data insight and strong visual craft to deliver seamless, on-brand digital journeys, working alongside Testing, Personalization, Content, Creative and URBN Technology to push the Urban Outfitters digital experience forward.
Role Responsibilities
Design Execution & Roadmap Delivery
Deliver design for Digital Experience roadmap initiatives across the full funnel path, prioritizing the browse path across web and app
Own end-to-end design of assigned digital products and features, from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs
Provide design input on effort and feasibility to support roadmap planning alongside Testing and Product Copy Operations
User-Centered Design & Research
Conduct and apply user research, usability testing and data insights to inform design decisions and validate solutions
Use qualitative and quantitative data (heatmaps, session recordings, surveys) to identify friction points and design opportunities
Partner with Testing to shape research findings into testable hypotheses that feed the A/B testing calendar
Testing, Experimentation & Iteration
Design and prototype variants for A/B and multivariate tests, aligning with Testing on hypotheses and success criteria
Iterate designs based on test results, analytics and customer feedback, continuously improving experiences post-launch
Deliver test-ready design assets on committed timelines to support the team's testing win-rate and velocity goals
Concepting & Personalization
Drive concepting and experience ideation, bringing new ideas from early exploration to testable, buildable designs
Partner with Personalization experts to design tailored content and journeys by customer segment
Stay ahead of digital, fashion and cultural trends to keep Urban Outfitters at the forefront of digital retail
Explore and experiment with emerging technologies (e.g. AI) to push the boundaries of the digital shopping experience, including AI-enabled design workflows
Design Systems, Quality & Accessibility
Contribute to and evolve the design system and digital style guides to ensure consistency, scalability and efficiency across web and app
Create wireframes, interactive prototypes and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design intent
Conduct VQA on landing pages and feature builds to ensure designs are implemented accurately
Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and are optimized for performance, responsiveness and usability across devices
Support design work for the upcoming site replatform, helping translate existing experiences and components into the new platform
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
Partner with URBN Technology on large technology-driven initiatives and feature rollouts, from design through launch
Collaborate with Anthropologie and Free People UI teams to share patterns, align on shared components and keep experiences consistent across URBN brands
Work with vendor partners including Dynamic Yield, Contentful and Salesforce to design within platform capabilities
Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders across the business, incorporating feedback while maintaining design integrity
Champion design thinking within the team and wider business, contributing to presentations, workshops and design documentation
Role Qualifications
Required
3 to 5 years of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing e-commerce and/or fashion-related web and app work
Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
Solid understanding of responsive, mobile-first design and accessibility standards (WCAG)
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
Experience designing for A/B tests or using performance data to iterate on live experiences
Ability to manage multiple projects at once and deliver on committed timelines in an agile environment
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in interaction design, visual communication, human-computer interaction, or a related field
Experience working across multiple brands or a shared design system
Experience with AI-enabled design or content workflows
Passion for fashion, culture and the Urban Outfitters brand
