- Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, implementation, and maintenance of industrial automation and control systems.
This is a hands-on, entry-level engineering role focused on PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, electrical controls, troubleshooting, and system optimization across manufacturing and industrial environments.
The position offers opportunities to work alongside experienced engineers on automation projects, system installations, testing, and commissioning, with occasional travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and implementing automation and control systems for manufacturing and industrial processes.
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Support electrical and control system design, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on system testing, debugging, and validation.
- Troubleshoot control system issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Work with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve automation processes.
- Document control system changes, software configurations, and maintenance procedures.
- Follow applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
- Support field commissioning, system installations, and maintenance activities as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, or a related field. Internship or co-op experience is valued.
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA development and applications.
- Understanding of industrial sensors, actuators, and motor control systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel designs.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
- Basic programming knowledge of Python, C++, or ladder logic.
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation projects.
- Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or PROFIBUS.
