The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise.
Candidates in the broadly defined area of biochemistry/biophysics, including computational biochemistry/biophysics, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with investigators in the University’s NIH-supported Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center.
This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of a thriving R1 research institution, offering a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. Faculty balance research, teaching, and service with a typical teaching load of one course per semester. The department provides a collegial and supportive environment for faculty development.
We have state-of-the-art facilities for modern chemical research, including advanced instrumentation for X-ray, NMR, mass spectrometry, materials characterization, and high-performance computing.
