Job Description
BIM Leads must understand the business thoroughly; their primary function is to manage the process of virtually constructing a building and documenting the design contract documents accurately. This encompasses managing a team of production professionals and technicians and own the vetting of construction-documents through as-built submittals.
It is also critical for this position to lead model management and BIM planning, collaboration, and coordination on projects they are overseeing. The position becomes the go-to person on the project for modeling, documentation and verifying design intent during preconstruction and construction phases.
As well as the requirements below, this position is targeted to fill a need for an experienced Revit user to work with our prefabrication team. WPI specializes in prefabricated exterior wall panels and 3D modular rooms. The selected candidate will be expected to have advanced user knowledge of Revit, experience with a wall framing add-in such as Strucsoft or AgaCAD, and modelling experience that includes cold formed steel, hot rolled steel, and architectural finishes.
This is a senior leadership position that can perform all BIM Technician and BIM Coordinator responsibilities.
This is an in-office position at our Vancouver, WA facility. The candidate must be able to commute to the office 5 days a week. A remote position is not available for this role.
Will be asked by the BIM Manager to assist in maintaining the department, including but not limited to creating new families, updating the templates, investigating, and reporting on new software or tech, creating lessons and presenting to the rest of the department.
Assist Estimators and Project Managers with planning and scheduling, cost report (hours) setup and forecasting, provide revisions (RFIs, change orders, etc.).
Compile contract VC close out documentation.
Must be able to lead BIM Coordination meetings: Spatial Coordination of Disciplines, gathering all disciplines BIM models including civil and preforming coordination tasks.
Attend and/or manage model coordination meetings and document project preconstruction/BIM meetings.
If leading the coordination effort: Be able to conduct Clash-detection and conflict resolution.
If following another's lead: Be able to determine own clashes with other disciplines and be able to coordinate with them to clear those obstructions.
Coordinate models with internal and subcontractor modelers & record coordination signoffs.
Create models related to WPI work
Coordinating with professional staff on reviewing models and comments via Design-Review.
Prepare 4D simulations as required.
May oversee sub-sets of the department. E.g. Prefab, Containment, Delegated Design Shops.
Must be knowledgeable of current BIM technology and trends. May be asked to attend tech conferences.
Coach, mentor, and supervise the process of virtually constructing a building by production.
May be asked to assist in evaluating team members during performance reviews.
Ability to learn and evaluate new software and provide constructive feedback.
Washington pay range
$100,000 — $120,000 USD
