The Director of Financial Accounting provides strategic and operational leadership for all accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and financial control activities across the Houston Methodist Academic and Research Institutes. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of financial information through effective accounting operations, adherence to regulatory and institutional requirements, and implementation of strong internal controls.
The Director leads the preparation and oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting; coordinates internal and external audits; ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), sponsor requirements, and institutional policies; and oversees accounting activities related to research operations, grants, contracts, endowments, faculty recruitment investments, and capital projects.
Working closely with executive leadership, research administration, finance, and operational stakeholders, the Director provides strategic financial guidance that supports informed decision-making, risk management, and long-term organizational sustainability.
