At UW Veterinary Care, we operate just like a high-level human hospital—utilizing advanced diagnostic imaging to evaluate, diagnose, and save lives—except our patients have tail wags, purrs, and hooves! We are eager to welcome new graduates and early-career techs to join our team in our newly expanded, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging facility.
No prior animal experience? No problem! If you bring strong foundational knowledge in imaging physics and positioning techniques, our supportive team will teach you everything you need to know about animal handling and veterinary anatomy.
This is a full-time position 100% FTE (40 hours per week). The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with two weekend days (Saturday or Sunday) required per month. The weekday schedule will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate weekend shifts. Schedules will be posted at least two weeks in advance and are subject to change based on departmental needs.
Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or other radiologic scanning procedures. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient/participant, adjusts lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient's/participant's body, adjusts cone to direct concentration of rays on specific area, and selects proper film (30%)
Processes images, film, and/or other scanning documentation in accordance to guidelines and photographic technique. Performs quality control activities to ensure optimal quality radiographs (5%)

The starting hourly rate for the position is $28.00 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).
Sign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment!

Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, maneuver portable imaging equipment, and lift/carry objects up to 30 lbs independently.
