We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to help oversee commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout. This role is ideal for someone with experience working for a commercial general contractor who is ready to expand their project management responsibilities and grow into a Project Manager position.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, design professionals, and clients to coordinate project activities, manage documentation, monitor schedules and costs, and help keep projects on track.
Responsibilities
Assist with the management of commercial construction projects, including renovations, tenant improvements, and related work.
Support all phases of project delivery, from preconstruction and procurement through construction, turnover, and final closeout.
Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, consultants, Superintendents, and field personnel to ensure timely completion of project activities.
Prepare, distribute, track, and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and related documents to identify inconsistencies or coordination concerns.
Help develop and update project schedules while monitoring progress against established milestones.
Track project expenses, purchase orders, committed costs, invoices, change orders, and other financial records.
Participate in project meetings with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams; record action items and follow up to ensure completion.
Visit jobsites to review progress, document field conditions, and coordinate with Superintendents and project personnel.
Assist with material purchasing, delivery schedules, subcontractor sequencing, and jobsite logistics.
Maintain communication between field crews, office staff, design professionals, subcontractors, and clients.
Support inspections, punch-list completion, warranty coordination, turnover requirements, and project closeout.
Flag potential delays, budget issues, scope discrepancies, procurement challenges, and other risks before they affect project delivery.
Gradually assume greater responsibility for scheduling, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and overall project execution as you progress toward a Project Manager role.
