Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual, and other aspects of performance in a variety of contexts and environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well-being and quality of life.
The Occupational Therapist I assesses individual patients Occupational Therapy needs, and then establishes and implements an occupation-based treatment program and goals, using the therapeutic use of everyday activities to develop, regain, or improve the skills needed for daily living in the home, community, workplace, school and other settings.
The Occupational Therapist I reviews physicians’ referrals for occupational therapy services and utilizes information obtained from the patients records relative to their medical history, administers evidence-based exams and screening tests to identify impairments, functional limitations, disabilities and level of performance. Performs evaluation procedures to determine patients’ performance capacities and deficits such as functional, cognitive, visual and perceptual abilities.
