Director of Nursing
Texas A&M University–Victoria (A&M-Victoria) seeks a full-time Director of Nursing. This 12-month position is clinical track or tenure-track eligible.
The Director of Nursing reports to the Dean of the College of Education and Health Professions. The Director provides leadership for growing, promoting, and advancing the undergraduate nursing program; exploring options for developing graduate studies in nursing; and teaching online courses within the University’s academic programs.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is designed to serve the community in the Coastal Bend region of Texas. The online undergraduate RN-BSN/Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Program offers two pathways to the BSN degree. The first option, the RN Fast Track, is designed for working nurses with active, unencumbered RN licenses. The second option, Concurrent Enrollment, is for ADN or Diploma nursing students who are currently enrolled in an accredited prelicensure program.
The Director must satisfy qualification expectations of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Commission on Colleges of Nursing Education (CCNE), the Texas Board of Nursing (BON), and A&M-Victoria.
Education and Experience: The position requires a doctoral degree in nursing (or a doctoral degree in a related field and a Master of Science in Nursing) from an accredited institution; at least 2 years of professional nursing practice experience; and at least 3 years of experience in nursing administration or academic nursing leadership.
In addition to education and experience requirements, the successful candidate must meet the following qualifications:
Hold an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
Communicate effectively
Organize, manage, and coordinate complex academic and professional activities.
Lead program evaluation, accreditation activities, curriculum development, faculty leadership, and academic program administration
Apply contemporary instructional technologies to online and face-to-face nursing education.
· Coordinate transfer agreements and pathways involving community colleges.
· May carry a teaching load of no more than three (3) clock hours per week
Because of the University’s outreach mission to serve the broader Texas Gulf Coast region, the position may require travel and occasional work outside of normal business hours. Victoria is about a two-hour drive from Houston, Corpus Christi, Austin, and San Antonio.

Setting: A&M-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System. The University was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M University System during the 89th Texas Legislative Session.
