From Amazon's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Amazon Connect Talent is an AI-powered hiring and talent assessment platform. It conducts AI-led interviews, runs adaptive assessments, and produces structured evaluations at the scale of high-volume hiring, built on the same hiring science Amazon uses for its own seasonal workforce. It reached general availability in 2026 and is now in the phase where the experience, not the capability, decides whether customers trust it.
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead the mobile-first, AI-native candidate experience for Amazon Connect Talent.
The AI does the interview. You will not be designing a form that an AI scores afterward. You will be designing an experience where the system conducts a conversation, adapts what it asks based on what it has heard, and produces an evaluation that affects whether someone gets a job.
That means designing for non-determinism: what the system does on its own and what it asks permission for, how it signals that it is listening and understanding, what happens when it mishears or misjudges, how a candidate corrects it, and how someone comes to trust a process with no human on the other end. These decisions are made with engineering and data science, not handed to them.
The phone is the product. For a high-volume candidate there is no desktop fallback. The experience has to work one-handed, on cellular, in a single sitting, under the stress of being evaluated. We are designing mobile-first in the real sense, the constraints of that context shape the product decisions rather than getting accommodated at the end.
You will also work the way our team has found to be fastest: prototype first. Our strongest delivery path on this product has been a designer building a working, AI-coded prototype to drive the discussion, then partnering with a design technologist to productionize it. It has shipped real experiences in weeks without drawing on core engineering capacity.
We are looking for someone who works this way naturally, who reaches for a running prototype rather than a static comp when a question is genuinely open, and who knows when the prototype has answered the question and craft has to take over.
Key job responsibilities
-Lead the mobile-first, AI-native candidate experience for Amazon Connect Talent end to end.
-Co-own AI behavior with engineering and data science: how the system conducts and adapts an interview, surfaces uncertainty, fails gracefully, and earns calibrated trust.
-Design for a high-volume candidate interviewing on their own device, treating that context as the primary constraint, not a responsive adaptation.
-Build AI-coded prototypes to resolve open questions and drive alignment.
-Set the standard for when AI-generated work is acceptable and when hand-craft is required, and raise the team's AI fluency.
-Frame problems as much as solve them: surface risks others have not, and drive clarity when strategy is still forming.
-Establish interaction and visual standards that hold as the product grows, designing for longevity rather than launch.
-Influence partner teams across product, engineering and data science, and be the designer those leaders seek out on product decisions.
-Default to a recommendation: take a clear position, argue it with data, and defend it to senior leadership.
-Prioritize ruthlessly, balancing short- and long-term customer needs, and connect design work to measurable results.
-Mentor designers, improving their craft and AI fluency.
The design team for Connect Talent sits inside AWS Applied AI Solutions, covering the products in our portfolio that have shipped but are not yet mature. These are surfaces with live customers, real usage data, and the hardest design questions still open.
Experience in designing for both mobile and desktop applications.
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers, or experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
