We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator to develop accurate and competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects. This position will take ownership of the estimating process from initial bid invitation through final proposal and project handoff, with a primary focus on drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, and related interior finish systems.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial interiors estimating experience and can independently manage quantity takeoffs, scope review, labor and material pricing, subcontractor and vendor bids, bid leveling, and proposal preparation. This is a detail-oriented role requiring someone who can manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates for commercial interior construction projects, including drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related finishes.
Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents to develop a complete understanding of project scope.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
Solicit, evaluate, compare, and level pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Analyze project documents to identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost risks.
Develop accurate and competitive pricing based on project requirements, current market conditions, and historical costs.
Prepare complete bid proposals, including scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and pricing breakdowns.
Identify value-engineering opportunities and provide cost-effective alternatives when appropriate.
Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
Experience soliciting, evaluating, and leveling subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment pricing.
Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates, priorities, and deadlines.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
