Position Overview
Nscale is building the infrastructure that powers AI. Our Americas Data Center Infrastructure group delivers large scale, high density campuses where timely, evidence based decisions are essential to speed, capital discipline, and customer commitments.
The Vice President Project Controls AMERS establishes and leads the project controls function for the Americas portfolio. This executive sets the governance, systems, and operating cadence that give leaders a trusted view of cost, schedule, risk, and forecast outcomes across all active campuses.
The role is strategic as well as operational. It creates right sized controls that improve data accuracy and consistency without burdening project teams or slowing an agile business. The Vice President translates complex delivery information into clear executive decisions, develops a high performing project controls organization, and partners closely with Delivery, Development, Design, Procurement, Finance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Controls Strategy and Governance
- Establish the Americas project controls strategy, governance model, minimum standards, and reporting architecture for cost, schedule, risk, change, and forecasting.
- Create practical policies, templates, and stage gates that provide consistent portfolio data and decision discipline while remaining appropriate to project phase, scale, and pace.
- Define data ownership, update cadence, quality checks, and escalation paths so project controls information is timely, accurate, comparable, and trusted.
- Continuously simplify and improve controls to prevent data overload, eliminate duplicate effort, and keep project teams focused on delivery outcomes.
- Lead adoption of common project controls systems, dashboards, and analytics that connect project-level detail to portfolio and executive reporting.
- Cost and Commercial Controls
- Set standards for budget development, cost coding, estimates at completion, cash flow forecasting, contingency management, commitments, accruals, and change control.
- Provide independent challenge and assurance of project budgets, forecasts, cost risks, and recovery actions; ensure material trends are identified early and clearly explained.
- Partner with Delivery, Procurement, Commercial, and Finance on contract administration, change management, claims exposure, and capital planning.
- Own consolidated portfolio cost reporting and provide a clear view of budget status, forecast variance, cash needs, contingency position, and key commercial risks.
- Schedule and Risk Controls
- Establish integrated scheduling requirements, schedule-health standards, and milestone definitions across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, energization, and customer handover.
- Maintain portfolio visibility of critical paths, cross-project dependencies, long-lead equipment, utility interfaces, and schedule confidence; lead early escalation of threats to committed dates.
- Implement an enterprise risk management approach that integrates cost, schedule, technical, commercial, and delivery risks into one actionable view.
- Ensure risk registers, mitigation plans, contingency strategies, and schedule or cost risk analyses are proportionate to project complexity and used to drive decisions.
- Executive Communication and Portfolio Insight
- Provide concise, decision-ready reporting to executive leadership that clearly distinguishes facts, forecasts, uncertainties, and recommended actions.
- Lead regular portfolio controls reviews that focus leaders on material delivery trends, tradeoffs, emerging risks, and decisions required to protect commitments.
- Translate complex cost, schedule, and risk analysis into plain language for senior non-technical stakeholders, customers, and investment partners.
- People and Function Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a scalable Americas project controls organization across cost management, scheduling, risk, reporting, and systems.
Qualifications
- Required
- 12+ years of progressive project controls, program management, construction management, or capital delivery experience, including senior leadership responsibility for large, complex capital programs.
- Experience establishing or maturing project controls processes and governance across cost, schedule, and risk in a growing, multi-project environment.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, cost forecasting, cash flow, contingency, change control, and contract administration.
- Deep knowledge of CPM scheduling, integrated master schedules, schedule quality, critical-path management, and schedule risk analysis.
- Proven ability to build and lead high performing project controls teams and influence senior delivery leaders without creating unnecessary process.

- Experience with Primavera P6, cost-management platforms, risk tools, advanced Excel, and executive reporting or dashboarding tools.
- Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
