Overview
Manages the day-to-day operations of the accounting department for a specific LOB. Provides oversight of all data inputs and outputs in general ledger to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data. Engages with business unit controllers, program finance leads and other members of the organization to identify and complete special projects, such as accounting process evaluations and optimizations, identifying business risks, internal control assessments, and ad hoc financial analysis.
Develops/revises and implements accounting controls, policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Works under general supervision.
Issues the month-end closing schedule and works with staff to ensure target dates are met for the timely closing of the general ledger.
Ensures entries in ledgers and journals comply with established accounting policies and procedures. Verifies ledger entries against source data and assists in resolving identified discrepancies.
