A fit check is a structured review of a job posting against your profile and search criteria. It combines deterministic product rules with AI-assisted reading of job and resume context. The goal is to reduce obvious false positives, show tradeoffs clearly, and keep public labels from overstating certainty.
The main checks
| Check | What it asks | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Role family | Is the job in the same broad kind of work you are targeting? | A strong score should not come from keyword overlap alone. |
| Seniority and scope | Does the role's level match your experience and target? | A title can look right while the scope is too junior or too senior. |
| Function shape | Are the day-to-day responsibilities aligned with your background and preferences? | Two roles with similar titles can require very different work. |
| Location and work mode | Does the posting match remote, hybrid, relocation, and location constraints? | Logistics can make a role impractical even when the work fits. |
| Compensation | Is available pay information compatible with your range? | Compensation mismatch should be visible before you spend time applying. |
| Posting validity | Does the job look current and internally consistent? | Expired, duplicated, or vague postings should carry more caution. |
The explanation has to match the evidence
A high-looking raw score is not enough. Layiq's validated-fit guidance requires the public label and explanation to stay consistent with the evidence. If a role has a fatal mismatch, missing required context, or contradictory explanation, the visible recommendation should be capped or downgraded.
